Why You Should Visit

A three-day market on the plaza and park right outside JR Otsu Station, with a different theme each day. On 1 November, "Omusubi to" brings together 20-plus stalls of things that are good for body and mind; on the evening of the 2nd, "YORIMICHI" offers Shiga food and drink at 10-plus stalls; and on the 3rd, "Bread and Coffee" gathers up to 25-plus bakeries and roasters. Entry is free and the venue is steps from the station. Day one adds a parkour workshop and a stamp rally, and the final day has a kids' stage, so it works well for families.
