Why You Should Visit

Yamakaji Farm in Noguchi-cho, Higashiomi, turns its summer sunflower field into a cosmos field each autumn. The Ohmi Railway line runs right beside the field, so you can frame the flowers and a passing train in the same shot, which has made it a well-known photo spot. Visitors can walk into the field to take pictures or simply stroll around, and a free pass covers repeat visits during the season. The farm is run by Rokkaku Co. / Yamakaji Farm, which grows rice, soybeans and vegetables. A good pick for rail and flower photographers, or families after an easy autumn outing in eastern Shiga.

About 15 minutes on foot from Ichinobe or Hirata Station on the Ohmi Railway. By car, about 15 minutes from Yokaichi IC on the Meishin Expressway; parking is free.
