Why You Should Visit

A handmade market held on the 1st of every month in the grounds of Minatogawa Shrine, just north of JR Kobe Station. Everything is made by the stallholders themselves: pottery, woodwork, leather goods and jewellery, plus baked sweets, jam and house-roasted coffee beans. Up to about 100 stalls take part, and resale goods, second-hand clothes and recycled items are not allowed. It runs rain or shine and entry is free — a good stop if you want to pair a shrine visit with one-of-a-kind finds and a chat with the makers.

NOTE

Schedule

  • 1st of every month (no market in January). Held in rain; cancelled if a weather warning is in force at 7:00 that morning, announced on social media and the official LINE
  • Food is sold to take home only; nothing is served to eat on the spot
  • Each month's stall list is posted on the official site

*Enquiries: Kobe Handmade Market Committee, 078-303-1543 (weekdays 10:00–18:00). Please do not contact the shrine
