Miyagawacho Mizue-kai Autumn Dance 2026

Why You Should Visit

Mizue-kai is the autumn dance performance by the geiko and maiko of Miyagawacho, the geisha district just east of the Kamo River. It runs for four days from 8 October at the Miyagawacho Kaburenjo Theatre (Mitsuwa-za), with one show at 16:00 on weekdays and two shows, at 13:00 and 16:00, at the weekend. The programme centres on classical pieces in the nagauta, kiyomoto, tokiwazu and jiuta styles, closing with the ensemble dance "Miyagawa Kouta". Part of the programme changes by day. Separate from the spring Kyo Odori, it is a quieter way to see classical geisha dance.

TICKETS / REGISTRATION

Tickets have been on sale online since 9 September 2026. Enquiries: Miyagawacho Ochaya Association, 075-561-1151 (10:00–16:00, closed weekends and holidays); phone bookings are not accepted. Same-day tickets are sold at the theatre box office only if seats remain after advance sales.

Can I bring children?

Children under 10 are not admitted.

Are same-day tickets available?

Only if seats remain after advance sales, in which case they are sold at the theatre box office. Advance tickets are sold online via the official site.

Is there parking?

There is no parking at the venue. Walk from Gion-Shijo Station (Keihan) or Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station (Hankyu).
