Why You Should Visit

A digital fireworks show in which 15,000 LEDs set into the Kyoto Station Building's grand stairway paint bursts of light in time with summer songs. Nothing is actually launched, so rain and wind matter little, and you can watch it inside the station. It runs nightly from 1 to 6 August, 19:30 for an hour. Through the same week the station square below hosts the Ekibiru Week of the Shimogyo-Kyoto Station Summer Festa, with yosakoi, a Kyoto Sanga players' talk show, an amateur singing contest and a NEO Bon-odori with DJ KOO.
