Why You Should Visit

Zensui-ji, Choju-ji and Joraku-ji in Konan City, Shiga, are old Tendai temples whose main halls are all National Treasures; together they are known as the Konan Sanzan. During the autumn-leaf season the three temples open together, including their normally hidden principal images, so you can take in maple foliage and National Treasure architecture in one trip. On weekends in late November each temple also holds an evening light-up. Each temple has a free car park, making this a good pick for anyone who wants autumn colour and National Treasure temple architecture together.
