Why You Should Visit
A two-day sky lantern festival at Yabase Kihanto Park in Kusatsu, on the shore of Lake Biwa. The highlight is some 3,000 lanterns rising into the night sky together, planned for 8:00 p.m. The grounds also have street performers, live music, food trucks, and old-fashioned festival stalls such as shooting galleries and ring toss. Entry is by lantern ticket only: one ticket admits up to two people, and children of elementary school age and younger get in free. A good autumn night out with family or friends.
