Why You Should Visit

The summer festival of Kitano Tenmangu, perched on the hillside above Kobe's Ijinkan foreign-residence quarter. Dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, the shrine holds rites praying for health and prosperity. Votive andon lanterns are displayed in the grounds, and from its spot just above the Weathercock House you can take in views over Kitano and Kobe port.
