Marunaka Seika, a confectioner from Kasai, Hyogo, hands out its signature King Donut for free in front of Himeji Station once a year — 2026 marks the 4th edition. October 13 is King Donut Day, a pun on October ("do") and the king card (13), but this year the giveaway is one day early on Monday, October 12 (a national holiday). About 10,000 donuts are handed out until they run out, and there's a face-in-hole photo panel for souvenir shots.
