Why You Should Visit

A dog festival run by Kameoka City where you can spend the whole day with your dog. It began in 2025 and drew more than 2,000 dog lovers the first time. This second edition is held as a commemorative event of the National Urban Greening Fair, filling the lawns of Hozugawa Park with dog races, a bread-snatching race, a fashion show and a parade you can join with your dog. Guide dog and police dog demonstrations, a talk on disaster preparedness for pets, and two markets of dog goods and Kyoto Tamba food round it out. Admission is free, and Kameoka is about 20 minutes from Kyoto by train.
