Why You Should Visit

An after-hours walk through the tunnels of the Ikuno Silver Mine, part of a Japan Heritage story, lit only by the flashlight you bring. The series has run on the fourth Saturday of each month since July, and October 24 is this year's final night. Operator Silver Ikuno describes it as the last summer night walk it will host itself — the "Last Night". A mining historian is on hand to explain how ore was dug in the medieval period, so you get the mine's history in a darkness and quiet you never find on a daytime visit.

NOTE
