Why You Should Visit

A monthly market on the 10th at Nishinomiya Shrine, head shrine of all Ebisu shrines in Japan, held in honour of the great Toka Ebisu festival of 10 January. Up to 40 stalls line the approach path inside the grounds, selling vegetables, fruit, bread, Japanese and Western sweets and handmade goods; many locals pray first, then shop. Those making the '10th-day visit' also receive 'tookashi', a lucky sweet shared as a blessing. On Tuesday 10 November it runs from 10:00 to 14:00. (No market in January or July.)
