2026 71st Ibaraki Benten Fireworks Festival

Why You Should Visit

A fireworks festival at Bentenshu's Meiouji Temple that has run for 70 editions as a summer fixture of the Hokusetsu area. About 3,000 shells can be watched free from the temple grounds and surroundings — themed starmine bursts in sequence, closing with a gold-and-silver shower finale. There are no food stalls, only soft drinks: this one is purely about the fireworks.

access: About 20 min on foot from Ibaraki Station (JR Kyoto Line). There is no shuttle bus, and with traffic restrictions around the venue on the day, walking in is the recommended way (no visitor parking).
