Midsummer Snow Festival 2026 (Rokko GREENIA)

Why You Should Visit

At Rokko's GREENIA athletic park, the Midsummer Snow Festival returns for the first time in seven years, hauling about 100 tons of snow up the mountain in midsummer. A snow field up to 16 meters square hosts snow play and a treasure hunt, and this year adds a new water-gun shooting game on a snow hill. At around 850m elevation — about 5°C cooler than the city — you can touch snow in the heat of summer. It runs about 18 days, mostly weekends, holidays and the Obon period; snow play and the treasure hunt are included with GREENIA admission.

FAQ

When is it held?

About 18 days between July 18 and August 30, 2026, mostly weekends, holidays and Obon. It is not held on other days such as weekdays.

Is there an extra fee for snow play?

Snow play and the treasure hunt are included with GREENIA admission. Only the snow-hill shooting game costs an extra ¥400 per play.

What happens if it rains?

Held in light rain, canceled in severe weather. Check the day's status on the Rokkosan portal site (rokkosan.com).

Is there a money-saving way to get there?

There are discount coupons bundling transport and admission. For those reaching the base by JR or car, a cable-car + admission coupon is ¥4,200; from the Hanshin or Hankyu lines, a train-inclusive coupon is ¥5,000+. See the official site (rokkosan.com).
