Why You Should Visit

An open-air flea market held on the third Saturday of each month (April–November) at Kikuseidai on Mt. Maya, about 700m above Kobe. Anyone can take part with just a rucksack of goods — no stall fee, no advance sign-up, and bartering is welcome — giving it a relaxed, neighborly feel. Running since 2006, it's a long-loved local market, held alongside an "Acoustic Picnic" where people bring instruments. Cooler than the city below, it's a nice stop for hikers and families at the observatory famed for Kobe's night view.
