Price & booking: Free admission (some experiences, such as the night balloon rides, are paid) No reservation needed. Tickets for the Castle Horror Night are issued on site from 13:00 on October 31.
Venue & access: Fukuchiyama Castle Park, Yura no Garden, around Fukuchiyama Railway Museum "Fukureru" & Hokinomaru Park By train, the nearest station is Fukuchiyama Station (JR / Kyoto Tango Railway). By car, use the Fukuchiyama IC on the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway.

There are 2 car parks within a 12-minute walk of Fukuchiyama Castle Park, Yura no Garden, around Fukuchiyama Railway Museum "Fukureru" & Hokinomaru Park, and 4 public restrooms within 8 minutes. The map shows each with its walking time.

Why You Should Visit

An autumn night festival that fills Fukuchiyama Castle and its surroundings with light and sound. Started in 2018, it won the Prime Minister's Award at the national Furusato Event Awards in 2025. The 2026 edition marks the 40th anniversary of the castle's reconstruction, under the theme "Take back the light." Illuminations switch on at 17:00; October 31 features a Hyakki Yagyo yokai parade and a Castle Horror Night, while November 1 brings tethered night balloon rides and taiko drumming. Admission is free, making it an easy evening out for families visiting northern Kyoto.
