Why You Should Visit

An autumn fixture at the Hyogo Prefectural Flower Center in Kasai. Around 100 varieties and 3,000 dahlia plants fill the Seasonal Flower Garden at the heart of the park, so blooms from dinner-plate-sized giants to small pompons in every colour and form can be compared in one place. Peak bloom is usually mid-October, and at the end of the month cut dahlias are floated on the water for the "Dahlia Float" display. A chrysanthemum show starts on October 18, after which the park stays open on Wednesdays too. Free admission for high-school students and under; parking for 570 cars is free.

FAQ

When is the best time to see the dahlias?
Blooms usually peak around mid-October. On October 31 and November 1 the "Dahlia Float" display puts cut dahlias on the water, so you can see both the beds and the float on those two days.
Are there any closed days?
The park normally closes on Wednesdays, but the chrysanthemum show starting October 18 keeps it open daily after that. During the dahlia exhibition the only closed days are October 7 and 14.
Can I bring children or a dog?
High school students and under enter free. Dogs are welcome on a lead, and strollers and wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge.
