Why You Should Visit
Kansai bakers came together as the "Eeyan! Local Wheat Project Kansai" with one aim: wheat grown in Kansai, milled in Kansai, baked into bread in Kansai. This is their first bread market. Ten bakeries from Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Shiga, Hyogo and Wakayama swap in two shifts, with bakers from Tokyo and Fukuoka joining via a consignment booth. Most specialize in hard breads made with house starters and Japanese wheat, and there are gelato and tea booths too. Admission fees, after costs, go to a crowdfunding campaign to build a small flour mill in Hashimoto, Wakayama.
