Why You Should Visit

A two-day food market by the river right next to Hankyu Arashiyama Station, held to mark the 50th anniversary of Kyoto's Nishikyo Ward. Most stalls come from local cafes and bakeries certified as "Nishiterasu" (the ward's community information spots), selling baked sweets, bread, coffee, rice balls and Kyoto-style rolled omelette, plus a warabi-mochi shop from outside the ward. It is an easy stop on an Arashiyama walk if you want to taste the places locals actually go to, and works well for families too.

Are the same shops there on both days?

It varies. Malebranche Kamikatsura, Kyo-ryori Torikome and NoeCafe are there on Saturday, October 10 only.
