About a 4-minute walk from Arashiyama Station on the Hankyu Arashiyama Line. There is no parking near the park and Horinji's lot is closed to visitors, so use public transport.

TICKETS / REGISTRATION

No reservation is needed to watch for free. The paid viewing area at Horinji's observation deck takes 200 people per night on a first-come basis via the booking site. Fireworks

• Launched at 8:30 p.m. each night for about 5 minutes
• In 2025 they were fired from around Arashiyama Nakanoshima Park, with free open viewing around the park
• Check the organisers' announcements for the 2026 launch site and free viewing area

Paid viewing area (optional)

• Venue: Horinji Temple's observation deck (stage), reserved for ticket holders
• Hours: 6:30-8:45 p.m.
• Price: 6,600 yen per person (tax incl., one drink), 200 people per night, first come first served
• Includes the night view of Arashiyama from the deck, live jazz and pop, a beer garden with food and drink sales, and Saga Dainenbutsu Kyogen (new for 2026)
• Horinji's parking lot cannot be used

Bad weather

• The paid area goes ahead in light rain. If the fireworks are cancelled due to strong wind or rain, tickets are refunded minus a 330 yen fee each
• Check the organisers' announcements for cancellation or postponement of the fireworks themselves

Background

• Revived in 2020 after 44 years, started during the pandemic with the wish that people would look up and that the disease would pass
