Why You Should Visit

Once a year, high school wind bands from across the Kakogawa area fill the main hall of Kakogawa Civic Hall for a joint concert. It is part of the city's "town of music" programme, and the students themselves form the organising committee, choosing the theme and handling the MC work and stage changes. This fifth edition brings together nine high schools plus three local junior high bands as invited performers. Masanori Shibata, deputy leader of the JGSDF Central Band, produces the show, and professional saxophone and euphonium players join a select student band on stage. Free admission with no booking needed, so it is an easy drop-in for families and anyone who loves brass band music.

FAQ

Do I need a ticket or advance booking?
No. Admission is free and you can just turn up on the day. Seating is first come, first served.
Can I bring children?
Yes. It is a community concert featuring local students, so plenty of families attend. Audiences are expected to stay quiet during performances, so plan lobby breaks for small children.
Can I drive there?
Yes. Car Park Tsutsuji (463 spaces) next to the hall is available. It gets busy around opening time, so walking or taking the bus from JR Kakogawa Station is also worth considering.
