Why You Should Visit

An annual autumn orchid show at the greenhouse botanical garden on Mt. Tegarayama in Himeji. With help from the Himeji and Harima orchid societies, around 100 plants of some 50 species are on display, centered on autumn-blooming orchids such as cattleyas and moth orchids. Orchids grown by society members are also for sale, and members give a guided talk on the displays at 11:00 on the first and last days. Admission is free on the final day, Nov 23 (Labor Thanksgiving Day). Since it is all indoors, rain is no problem, making it a good stop for plant lovers in late autumn, when little is blooming outdoors.
