Why You Should Visit

In Yasutomi, in the hills of northern Himeji, Yuzu Fes on November 8 lets you walk into a yuzu orchard and pick the fruit yourself. Picking costs ¥500 per session and comes with a treasure hunt among the trees, where hidden prizes include outdoor gear and play goods. There is also a workshop on making yuzu salt koji with freshly picked fruit while learning the basics of fermentation (10 places, advance booking). On the same day, the nearby Kakashi no Sato (scarecrow village) holds an outdoor café and concert, and the yuzu workshop runs ponzu-making sessions. A good day out in the countryside for families.
