Why You Should Visit
An annual summer Tanabata festival hosted by the Sumaderamae Shopping Street, which runs up to the gate of Sumadera Temple. From 4 pm to 8 pm, the shops line up food and games so you can graze your way through a summer evening. As official festival events, a raffle with lavish prizes is held across two venues, alongside goldfish scooping and bouncy-ball scooping. It's a warm, down-to-earth neighbourhood street festival that both kids and adults can drop into easily. Right by Sumadera Station on the Sanyo Electric Railway, it's a good pick for families wanting a local summer-festival mood or anyone out for a casual stroll.
