Why You Should Visit
Liquor Mountain, the Kyoto-based liquor store chain, has long run a trade show for bars and restaurants. This year it renames the show Shuen LIQUOR FESTIVAL and opens it to the general public for one weekday only. The venue is Hotel Granvia Kyoto, inside the JR Kyoto Station building. The exhibitor list runs to 92 companies, from sake breweries to makers of shochu, wine, spirits and beer. You can compare craft beers from around Japan, pour your own glass from a professional beer server, and buy bottles at show-only prices — a good fit if you like to taste before you pick a bottle to take home.
