Why You Should Visit

For one day, this eight-shop yokocho right by the west exit of Hankyu Kobe-Sannomiya Station turns into a summer street fair. Alongside special menus from each restaurant there are old-school festival games — a string-pull lottery for shop coupons and candy, katanuki and chinchiro dice you can play by ordering a drink, and half-price drink windows triggered by a song. A group toast and colour-coded wristbands that signal you're happy to be talked to make it easy to strike up a conversation. Tables and chairs are cleared for a standing-room layout, drinks are paid for cash-on-order, and you can come and go freely between 12:00 and 23:00.

NOTE

How the day works

  • Tables and chairs are cleared for a standing-room layout (standing tables and stools provided)
  • Drinks are cash-on-order, paid when you order
  • Each shop prepares 3-5 dishes made only for this day, from ¥500 per pack
  • Draft beer, highballs and chuhai, plus bottled Coca-Cola drinks for non-drinkers
  • Lanterns and yukata set the summer-festival mood
  • Sponsors: Shinohara Shuzo / various manufacturers / Coca-Cola

Festival games

  • Senbonbiki string lottery: win coupons usable at the yokocho's shops, or candy — every string wins something
  • Katanuki & chinchiro dice: play when you order a drink — win and it's free, lose and you get a double-size mega mug
  • Surprise half-price windows: drinks are half price while a certain song plays
  • Group toast: guests and staff toast together, posting with #三宮横丁
  • Bottle-cap challenge: order a Coca-Cola product and flick the cap off to win Coca-Cola goods
  • Entry wristbands: colour signals how social you feel — green = happy to meet anyone, yellow = either is fine, red = drinking with friends only, pink = looking to match

Sample menu on the day

  • Yakitori from ¥180 (Block A)
  • Grilled squid ¥600 (Block C)
  • Hashimaki ¥500 (Block D)

FAQ

Do I need a reservation?
Entry is free and no reservation is needed. You order at each shop, and there may be a wait when it gets busy.
Is it held in the rain?
The venue is an indoor yokocho on the 2nd floor under the JR tracks, so it is expected to run as usual in the rain. Check the official site for the latest.
Can I bring children?
Games like the string lottery and katanuki are child-friendly, but this is a drinking-and-dining alley and the evening leans adult. Daytime is the easier slot with kids.
