Why You Should Visit
A one-day event held for the first time at Akashi T3 Terrace, the seaside open space next to Akashi City Hall. The idea is to fish, look, eat and listen your way around the Akashi sea: there is walk-up fishing with instructors on hand, a Japan Coast Guard corner where kids can try on uniforms, and a Ground Self-Defense Force display featuring the Type 81 short-range surface-to-air missile system. A stage facing the Akashi Strait hosts Okinawan sanshin live music and a bubble show, and around 20 stalls make up the market. Admission is free, and it suits families whose kids have never fished before.
