Ninomiya Shrine Summer Festival & Chinowa Ring Rite 2026

Why You Should Visit

A summer festival held on Marine Day at Ninomiya Shrine, the guardian shrine of the Ninomiya district just east of Sannomiya. From 15:00 the chinowa ring rite is performed, cleansing half a year's impurities with prayers for good health. After the rite, local restaurants and bars set up food stalls in the shrine grounds—fresh seafood, izakaya plates and café bites among them. Prayer and festival bustle come together in one evening, an easy stop on the way home or with the family.
