Why You Should Visit
The Nagai Go Memorial Museum on Wajima's morning-market street was caught in the large fire that followed the January 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. This exhibition at the Museum of Kyoto centres on the 108 original drawings and the figures that were rescued from the building unburnt, alongside hand-drawn manuscripts and colour illustrations from Devilman, Mazinger Z, Cutie Honey and more. It also premieres a new 36-page manga Go Nagai drew for the show about his memories of Wajima, his home town. A strong pick for anyone who grew up on his robots and demons, or who wants to see what survived the disaster.
