Why You Should Visit

A biennial exhibition of work by young ikebana artists, organized by Kyoto Prefecture together with the city's ikebana schools, held this time in the Annex Hall of The Museum of Kyoto. Forty-six artists from 24 schools across the prefecture arrange flowers in vessels made by 41 craft artists of the Kyoto Craft Artists Association, spanning textiles, ceramics, lacquer, metalwork, glass and woodwork, for 46 works in total across two sessions. The theme is Beauty of Time ⇄ Beauty of Use. All works are rearranged between the first session (Nov 3–5) and the second (Nov 6–8), so two visits show two different exhibitions. Admission is free with no booking, three minutes on foot from Karasuma Oike Station on Sanjo-dori.
