Why You Should Visit

One of Chikusa's three great festivals, the Myoken Summer Festival returns for its 58th year on the grounds of Chikusa Elementary School. From late afternoon the stage rolls through local taiko group Danku (Shiso Wadaiko Arts Club), vocal unit BambooLily, and nationally-known comedy duo Identity — famous for their manzai built on impressions of Masako Nozawa, the voice of Goku in Dragon Ball — before wrapping up with a prize drawing. It's an old-fashioned summer evening festival where the whole mountain town turns out.

About 30 km (40 min drive) from the Yamasaki IC on the Chugoku Expressway. Roughly 200 parking spaces near the venue (limited, so carpooling is encouraged). Public transport is infrequent, so coming by car is the practical option.
