Why You Should Visit

A five-day gyoza festival bringing dumpling shops from across Japan to Umekoji Park. Kyoto Gyoza Daisakusen drew 100,000 visitors last year and this edition is its first at the plaza outside Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station. Regional styles from Hamamatsu and Utsunomiya sit alongside oddities like oyster-lemon and beef-tongue gyoza, with four Kyoto craft breweries pouring. The co-hosted Kyoto Monozukuri Daisakusen adds hands-on booths (stop-motion animation, drones) and a bouncy dome, and admission is free, so it works well with kids.

Train: Right outside Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station (JR Sagano Line). About 15 min on foot west along Shiokoji-dori from the central exit of JR Kyoto Station
Car: No parking. Use public transport

There are 2 car parks within a 12-minute walk of Umekoji Park (plaza in front of Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station), and 7 public restrooms within 8 minutes. The map shows each with its walking time.

FAQ

Do I need a ticket or reservation?

Admission is free and no reservation is needed. Gyoza, drinks and activities are paid separately.

Can I drive there?

There is no parking at the venue. The site is right outside Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station on the JR Sagano Line, and about 15 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station.

Is it good for kids?

Yes. The co-hosted Kyoto Monozukuri Daisakusen has a bouncy dome, kids' festival games and hands-on booths such as stop-motion animation and drones. The venue is a flat plaza inside the park, easy to get around with a stroller.

Does it go ahead in rain?

It is an outdoor venue, so decisions in severe weather are announced on the official Instagram (@gyouzadaisakusen2026) and the event site. Check before heading out.
