Why You Should Visit

A three-day exhibition devoted entirely to moss, held by Kyoto Botanical Garden and the Kansai branch of the Okayama Moss Society (Okamos Kansai). The exhibition room in the Garden Hall shows living moss, ecology photographs, moss art and crafts, and dioramas of moss gardens, while the forecourt sells moss bonsai, pottery and moss goods. Guided moss walks around the garden, talks by researchers and, on the 7th and 8th, moss terrarium workshops run during the show, all with same-day sign-up. A good stop if you like looking closely at small green things, or as part of an autumn walk through the garden.
