Why You Should Visit

Twice a year — spring and autumn — the waterfront at Nakanoshima fills with makers, antique dealers and vintage clothing sellers. Recent editions have drawn roughly 90 to 130 stalls selling ceramics, jewellery, dried flowers, Nordic fabrics and old tools, plus bento, baked sweets and other food. This 18th edition spreads across three sites: Nakanoshima Park in front of the Central Public Hall, a live stage set up on Suishobashi bridge, and a food area between Osaka City Hall and the Nakanoshima Library. It is an easy riverside walk past some of the city's finest retro architecture.

Essentials

FAQ

Is there an admission fee?
Admission is free and no booking is needed. You can come and go freely between all three sites during opening hours.
Do the stalls change between Saturday and Sunday?
In past editions the line-up has changed from one day to the next. Stalls for this edition are being announced on the official Instagram, so check which day your favourite is appearing before you go.
What happens if it rains?
It is an outdoor market, so severe weather can mean fewer stalls, changes to the programme, or cancellation. Check the official Instagram on the morning of your visit.
Is it manageable with children?
The venue is a park and riverside promenade, so strollers are fine. Aisles do get narrow at busy times and many stalls sell breakables, so hold small children's hands when it is crowded.
