Why You Should Visit

For five days the B2 food floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store turns into a marché of seasonal produce and artisan foods from around Japan. September's theme is autumn flavors: Shine Muscat grapes from Okayama, Ichibanboshi mandarins from Mie, Tosa Hachikin free-range chicken from Kochi, Fukutaro's mentaiko baguette from Fukuoka and Nishiri's Kyoto-pickle sushi. A live bluefin tuna cutting show runs on Sep 19, and a direct-from-Akashi fish market on Sep 18. Producers staff the stalls, and being inside a department store it's an easy stop whatever the weather.

NOTE

Seasonal autumn foods from across Japan fill the fresh market and Food Event Plaza. Highlights include a direct-from-Akashiura fish market on Sep 18 from 11:00 and a live bluefin tuna cutting and sale on Sep 19 from 11:30. From Sep 18–20, spend at least ¥1,500 including tax on Nagasaki wagyu at Tsunoda to enter a no-lose prize draw. Some items are sold only on selected dates, and all are available while stocks last.

Do I need a ticket or reservation?

No. It takes place on the department store's food floor, so entry is free and no reservation is needed during store hours.

When is the tuna cutting show?

Sep 19 (Sat) from 11:30 at Maguro Teramoto in the fresh market. Cuts go on sale right after, so arrive before the start if you want to buy.

Are all items available every day?

No — sales days vary by brand. Koyatsuka tofu is on Sep 16–17 only, while figs and Nagasaki wagyu start on Sep 18, so check the schedule for anything specific.
