Why You Should Visit

The seventh Performing Arts Project production from the Professional College of Arts and Tourism in Toyooka, written and directed by the college's president, playwright Oriza Hirata, with students in the cast. Set in a cutting-edge life-science lab, the play follows young people's offhand conversations, daily routines and worries in the age of AI. It is a 2026 remake of a work that has been restaged in Japan and abroad for 35 years. The venue, Ebara Riverside Theater, is a two-minute walk from JR Ebara Station. Tickets are 1,000 yen for adults and free for ages 18 and under, making it an easy way to see contemporary Japanese theater on a trip to the Tajima region.
