Why You Should Visit

For three evenings around Pink Ribbon Day, Jison-in Temple, part of the Japan Heritage story "Nyonin Koya", lights up its tahoto pagoda and grounds. The illumination runs October 16–18 from 18:00 to 20:00. In the grounds you can write a wish on a pink ribbon and tie it to a heart-shaped display, and on the middle night, October 17, there is a dedication concert of jazz spoken word and live music followed by a goma fire prayer led by the deputy head priest. The concert and prayer are free; goma prayer sticks are 300 yen each. A quiet way to see the temple after dark on an autumn evening in Kudoyama.
