Himeji Shirahama Halloween & Lantern Night 2026

Why You Should Visit

The first Halloween and sky-lantern night on Himeji's Shirahama beach. By day the shore fills with a marché, kitchen cars, a costume party and a pumpkin weight-guessing contest; after dark, at 18:30, around 300 lanterns rise together into the night sky over the sea. Lantern participation is by advance ticket (¥3,800 per lantern, up to four people) with a cap of 500. Kids of elementary age and under get candy by saying "trick or treat" to the staff. A good pick for families and friends who want an autumn evening on the beach.

About a 16-minute walk from Shirahama-no-miya Station (Sanyo Electric Railway). By car, about 7 minutes from the Himeji-Higashi ramp of the Himeji Bypass; limited free public parking within a 10-minute walk.

TICKETS / REGISTRATION

Advance lantern tickets on sale at convenience stores from Sept 18 (¥3,800 per lantern, 500 total). Day tickets ¥5,000, not sold if advance tickets sell out. Details on the official site.

Can I come without releasing a lantern?

Yes—entry is free, and anyone can enjoy the marché, costume party and watch the release. Tickets are only needed to release a lantern.

How many people can join per ticket?

Up to four people per lantern.

What if it rains?

It goes ahead in light rain; in severe weather it moves to Oct 25 at the same times. Rain and wind thresholds apply, and the decision is posted on the official site at 16:00 the day before and 11:00 on the day.
