Why You Should Visit

Once a year, Himeji's farmers, fishers and foresters gather at the city's Agricultural Promotion Center in northern Himeji for a two-day local-produce festival. You can buy new-crop rice, local vegetables and seafood straight from the producers, browse the JA (agricultural cooperative) booths and a local products market, and stop by the kids' corner, food stalls and a Himeji Wagyu tasting. New this year is a farming-simulation game where you harvest rice with a large combine (advance booking required). A good autumn weekend outing for families who want to stock up on fresh local food.
