Hashigui-iwa Rocks Light-up

For three nights only, the Hashigui-iwa Rocks in Kushimoto, the southernmost town on Honshu, are lit up after dark. This line of rock pillars rising from the sea is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument, and the light-up was certified as a Japan Night View Heritage site in fiscal 2017. By day the rocks are known for their contrast with the blue sea; at night the illuminated pillars stand out against the darkness. Viewing is free and there is parking, so it fits easily into an evening on a Nanki road trip.
