Why You Should Visit

A neighbourhood market held each spring and autumn in the grounds of Imamiya Shrine in Murasakino, run with local residents. The landmark 10th edition takes "know what is enough" and "turn back time" as its themes and runs as a circular market mindful of the environment and food waste. More than 20 booths, mostly from the Murasakino and Nishijin area, bring vintage clothing, old tools and tableware, pottery, books, baked sweets and rotisserie chicken, plus workshops in glasswork, silk-screen printing and plastic-bottle shamisen. This time there are more hands-on booths than usual, so it works well with children.
