Why You Should Visit
For one day, roadside stations and farm stands from across Kyoto Prefecture, including Tango, Miyama, Kyotamba and Minamiyamashiro, gather at Machi-no-Eki Crosspeer Kumiyama. Look for craft beer, puddings made with Miyama milk, Keihoku natto, black-soybean products, matcha sweets and Fushimi sake, with free tastings of food and drink. JA Kyoto Yamashiro hands out onigiri made with this year's new rice at 11:00 and 13:00 (first 50 people each time), and the Eco Fair running alongside has power-generation activities, a climate-change VR experience and a parent-and-child puzzle game, while school bands and dance groups take the stage. A good way to shop specialties from all over the prefecture without the long drive north, and an easy family outing.
