Venue & access: Peace Rose Garden, Natural Cultural Gardens, Expo '70 Commemorative Park (Suita) About a 5-minute walk north from Banpaku-kinen-koen Station (Osaka Monorail) to the Central Gate of the Natural Cultural Gardens. By car, use the park's car parks.

Why You Should Visit

An autumn rose event in the Peace Rose Garden of the Natural Cultural Gardens, featuring roses sent from nine countries, Japan included, as a wish for peace at the 1970 Osaka Expo, alongside fragrant new varieties. About 2,400 bushes of roughly 250 varieties grow here; highlights include "Finesse", a silver winner at an international fragrant rose competition, and "Peace", a large creamy bloom edged in pink. During the festa there is also a brass band performance, a bread market and guided tours by a rose sommelier, making it a good half-day in the park among autumn roses.

Is there an admission fee?

Yes, Natural Cultural Gardens / Japanese Garden admission is required (¥450 for high-school age and up, free for junior high and under). The rose festa itself has no extra charge.

Is it on during Oct 31 and Nov 1?

No, those two days are excluded from the festa. Otherwise it is open every day of the period.

Do I need to book the guided tour?

No, sign up on the day at the rose and flower seedling shop. It costs ¥500 with about 20 places per tour.
