79th Awaji Island Festival: Dance Parade 2026

Why You Should Visit

Awaji Island's biggest summer festival, in which dance troupes known as ren wind through central Sumoto one after another. Performances run at three street stages — Honmachi 7–8, Commode 56 and Horibatasuji — plus a special stage at Sumoto Machinaka Plaza. Dancing continues under the shopping arcade too, so walking the streets you are never far from drums and gongs. Both days run from evening into the night, and admission is free.

【The fireworks are on a different day】
The 79th festival's fireworks take place on Sunday 8 November, 18:00–18:30, around Ohama Beach — not on the same days as the dance parade. Paid viewing areas are set up for the fireworks.

No. The 79th festival's fireworks are held on Sunday 8 November around Ohama Beach. The dance parade is on 31 July and 1 August.

Is there an admission fee?

Watching the dance parade is free. Paid viewing areas are set up for the November fireworks.

Which stage should I head for?

The troupes move through the town, so standing at any of Honmachi 7–8, Commode 56 or Horibatasuji will bring the dancing to you in turn. If you would rather sit, head for the special stage at Sumoto Machinaka Plaza.
