Why You Should Visit
For three days, Yase-Hieizanguchi — the last stop on the Eizan Railway — turns into a beer hall. The platform under its 1925 timber roof becomes the "Beer Home", and a train parked at the platform becomes the "Beer Train", so you can drink a local beer sitting in a train seat. Ten breweries and sake sellers from Kyoto and nearby rotate across the three days, with six food stalls open throughout. The station sits between Mt. Hiei and the Takano River, so evenings are cool. Entry is free; you pay only for what you drink and eat.
