Why You Should Visit

An autumn festival at Daiitokuji, a Tendai Buddhist temple on Mt. Ushitaki in the hills of Kishiwada, long known as a maple-viewing spot. The vermilion Muromachi-period tahoto pagoda, a National Important Cultural Property, framed by red leaves is the scene to see. On the day, stalls sell produce and goods from the Senshu area of southern Osaka, and the temple offers its goshuin (temple seal). A good half-day outing for foliage and local shopping away from the city.
