Price & booking: Adults ¥800, elementary and junior high students ¥200 (same as regular admission). Free for preschoolers, elementary and junior high students living or studying in Osaka City, Osaka City residents aged 65+, and holders of disability certificates No reservation needed. Buy admission at the Tenshiba or Shinsekai gate counters, or as a web ticket via asoview. Web tickets are not date-specific, stay valid for one month after purchase, and let you skip the counter queue on weekends and holidays.
Venue & access: Tennoji Zoo Tenshiba Gate: 5–10 min on foot from Tennoji Station (JR, Osaka Metro) or Kintetsu Osaka-Abenobashi Station. Shinsekai Gate: 5–10 min from Dobutsuen-mae Station (Osaka Metro) or Shin-Imamiya Station (JR, Nankai). No dedicated parking; drivers use the Tennoji Park underground car park (490 spaces).

Why You Should Visit

On select autumn dates Tennoji Zoo stays open until 20:00 for Night ZOO. From around 17:00 the grounds are lit up, and you can watch how the animals behave after dark — a different picture from the daytime. A glow-stamp rally runs on every Night ZOO date, and on October 17 and 18 a bingo game sends you hunting for LED animals hidden in the illuminations on the lawn plaza. Admission is the same as usual, so you can stay from afternoon into the evening. Some animal houses close to viewing at 18:00 in September and October, so see your must-see animals early.

Night ZOO glow-stamp rally: every Night ZOO date. Collect stamps on a card at several stations around the zoo
Animal-hunt Night BINGO: Sat Oct 17 and Sun Oct 18, 17:00–19:45, lawn plaza next to the multipurpose square. Find LED animals hidden in the illuminations to complete a bingo card and win a prize. Sponsored by Osaka Toyopet; on these two days the illuminations are powered by Toyota electric vehicles

FAQ

Is Night ZOO admission different from regular admission?

It is the same as regular admission: ¥800 for adults and ¥200 for elementary and junior high students. There is no extra evening charge, and you can enter in the daytime and stay until 20:00. Preschoolers and Osaka City schoolchildren, among others, enter free.

Do I need to reserve or buy tickets in advance?

No reservation is needed; you can buy a ticket at the gate on the day. Gate counters get busy on weekends and holidays, so an open-dated web ticket bought in advance makes entry smoother. Web tickets are valid for one month after purchase.

Can I see all the animals in the evening?

For the animals' wellbeing, in September and October the bird exhibits, bear house, monkey and baboon house and others close to viewing at 18:00. The nocturnal animal house, penguins and polar bears can be seen until 19:45. If there are animals you particularly want to see, visit them while it is still light.

Is it held in the rain?

The zoo itself stays open in the rain, and the giraffes switch to indoor display on wet days. Programs may be changed or cancelled depending on the weather and the animals' condition, so check the official site for the latest news on the day.
