Why You Should Visit
Tana Fes, the citizens' festival of Kyotanabe in southern Kyoto Prefecture, takes place on Sunday 1 November 2026 around the city hall. Each year the site fills with hands-on booths, food stalls and food trucks and a flea market, while dance and music acts follow one another on stage — a whole-city day out. Stallholders and performers are decided in early September and announced on the official site. Parking near the venue is very scarce (temporary lots at Tanabe Junior High are slow to get into), so the free shuttle buses running that day from Shin-Tanabe, Matsui-Yamate and Miyamaki stations are the practical way in.
