Price & booking: Free entry. The parent-and-child tea ceremony is also free (advance registration required). No registration needed for the market. The tea ceremony takes first-come advance bookings via the form on Sofia Sakai's announcement page, open since September 24 at 10:00.
Venue & access: Sofia Sakai 1F gallery & courtyard (Naka Ward, Sakai) About 800 m (12 min walk) northwest of Fukai Station on the Semboku Line. On the day, the Naka Ward festival free shuttle stops at Fukai Station west side (in front of SoftBank) and Sofia Sakai (JA side). Crowds are expected and visitors are asked to come by public transport.

Why You Should Visit

A handmade-and-food market held at Sofia Sakai, the education and culture center in Sakai's Naka Ward. The October 25 edition runs under the theme "Festa del pane", with a dedicated bread zone at its heart alongside handmade makers and food trucks. It doubles as the Sofia Sakai venue of the Naka Ward residents' festival, and a parent-and-child tea ceremony — where kids whisk matcha and serve it to their parents — takes place the same day. Does it go ahead in the rain?

Yes, it is announced as going ahead rain or shine. The venue is Sofia Sakai's 1F gallery and courtyard.

Is there a bus from the station?

The Naka Ward festival free shuttle stops at Fukai Station west side (in front of SoftBank) and Sofia Sakai (JA side); the timetable is on the Naka Ward festival website. On foot it is about 12 minutes from Fukai Station.

How many can join the tea ceremony?

Three sessions (10:30, 12:15 and 14:00), each for 8 parent-child pairs.
