Why You Should Visit
Shippokai, the noh group led by Hosho-school performer Tatsumi Manjiro, holds its introductory performance in the small hall of the Hirakata City Arts and Culture Center. Tatsumi performs the noh and Nomura Mansai the kyogen, so you see both classical forms in one programme. There are two performances on the day, at 13:00 and 17:00, with a combined ticket for anyone who wants to see both. Student pricing makes it an easy first live noh experience, and a chance to catch Mansai's kyogen in the Kansai area.
